Atrium Health Center for Digestive Health is actively seeking a full-time academic Gastroenterologist to join an established practice in the Charlotte, NC area.

Candidate Profile:

  • MD or DO and board certification in Gastroenterology required.
  • Prior clinical educator experience at an academic medical center required, 3+ years preferred.
  • Prior or active involvement in research and scholarship preferred.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills

About this opportunity:

  1. Enhancing our patient care and teaching missions as a full-time GI clinician-educator at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor rank.
  2. The Section of Gastroenterology has excellent clinical and educational programs related to general gastroenterology, advanced endoscopy, pancreatobiliary diseases, motility disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, and liver disease and transplantation. 
  3. The successful candidate will rotate on the inpatient GI consultation teaching service and inpatient endoscopy services performed at Carolinas Medical Center monthly.
  4. Participate in outpatient GI consultation and endoscopy services delivered at Carolinas Medical Center, affiliated ambulatory surgery centers, and the GI Fellows Clinic.
  5. Opportunities for teaching Gastroenterology Fellows in diverse clinical settings and mentoring them in clinical research and other scholarly pursuits.
  6. Applicants should demonstrate a strong interest and commitment to the teaching of medical students, residents, and GI fellows. They should also have an interest in teaching fellows’ endoscopy.

Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology is home to a diverse faculty with GI - subspecialty expertise and a training program that produces well-trained, comprehensive gastroenterologists.
