Boston Medical Center Health System is seeking an accomplished and visionary physician leader to serve as the Chief of Obstetrics & Gynecology for the South Region. This leadership opportunity is ideal for a collaborative and mission-driven OB/GYN physician passionate about advancing clinical excellence, health equity, patient-centered care, and physician engagement within a dynamic academic and community-based health system.

The Chief of OB/GYN will report directly to the System Chair and provide strategic, clinical, operational, and administrative leadership for the department across inpatient and outpatient services. This individual will play a key role in shaping the future of women’s health services while partnering closely with hospital leadership, faculty, and community stakeholders to expand access, improve quality outcomes, and strengthen integrated care delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the System Chair to establish and execute departmental goals, growth initiatives, and strategic priorities.
  • Align departmental objectives with the broader mission and vision of Boston Medical Center Health System.
  • Advance innovative and patient-centered OB/GYN care models across inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Support service line growth, patient access initiatives, and operational excellence.
  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality obstetric and gynecologic care across the continuum.
  • Collaborate with hospital departments, community health centers, and referral partners to optimize care coordination and patient outcomes.
  • Lead efforts to improve maternal health initiatives, quality metrics, and patient experience.
  • Support evidence-based practices and promote a culture of clinical excellence.
  • Recruit, mentor, retain, and support physicians, APPs, and departmental staff.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and accountable team culture
  • Support professional development, leadership growth, education, and academic engagement.
  • Oversee clinical scheduling, provider performance evaluations, and departmental staffing needs.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, peer review activities, and patient safety efforts.
  • Monitor patient satisfaction, operational metrics, and productivity performance.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, hospital policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quality committees, morbidity & mortality reviews, and system-wide initiatives.
  • Partner with administrative leadership on departmental budgeting, resource allocation, and growth planning.
  • Monitor productivity, billing performance, and operational efficiencies.
  • Support financial stewardship while maintaining exceptional patient care standards.
  • Promote academic excellence through resident and student education.
  • Support clinical research participation and scholarly activity within the department.
  • Foster educational opportunities and mentorship initiatives across the OB/GYN service line.

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO with Board Certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Massachusetts
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical OB/GYN experience
  • Prior physician leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to health equity, quality improvement, and team-based care
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience working in community hospital settings and/or underserved populations preferred
