Locums/Contract Opportunity – Pathologist

We are seeking a Board Certified Pathologist for an ongoing locums assignment in WV. This is a full-time role with call coverage, offering the opportunity to work in a supportive environment with manageable case volumes.

Assignment Details:

• Start Date: November 3, 2025
• Contract Length: Ongoing
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM + full-time call coverage
• Call Back: Minimal (primarily Blood Bank issues, 1–2/week)
• Credentialing Timeframe: ~60 days

Practice Details:

• Support Staff:
• 2 full-time histotechs (gross biopsies & gallbladders, assist FNAs & bone marrows)
• Full-time lab system director
• Senior techs in each department
• Case Load:
• 4–5 surgical pathology cases/day currently (up to 20–25/day when fully staffed)
• Cytology: ~3–4/week (primarily urology)
• Mix: GI, GYN, breast biopsy, occasional skin cancer (melanomas sent out)
• Special Procedures:
• Frozen sections (occasional)
• Cytology: urines, bronchial washes/brushes, pleural & ascitic fluids
• FNAs: Thyroid sent to LabCorp
• Other:
• Rare pediatric specimens (tonsils, appendix)
• Hematology: occasional peripheral smear review only (no flow cytometry, no bone marrow sign-out)
• No autopsy coverage required

Requirements:

• Board Certification in Pathology (required)
• WV license or IMLC (will consider candidates eligible for WV temporary license)
• DEA required
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS required
• Minimum 1 year of pathology experience
• Comfortable signing out surgical cases and working independently
