About the Opportunity

Join our growing Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Division in a unique role that combines specialized pediatric clinical care with meaningful program development. This Part-time (0.5 FTE) position offers a 50/50 clinical-administrative split, providing you the opportunity to deliver compassionate care to pediatric patients with plastic and craniofacial conditions while shaping the future of our program.

Clinical Responsibilities (50%)

  • Pediatric Craniofacial Clinics: Conduct two clinics per month at Banner North Campus and outpatient settings near Tucson Medical Center
  • Patient Population: Children with congenital anomalies through Children's Rehabilitative Services (CRS)
  • Clinic Management: Run clinics in partnership with nursing staff
  • Clinical Procedures: Perform a variety of procedures including bandage changes, wound care management, routine suturing and staple placement, and tissue expansion procedures
  • Inpatient Service: Occasional rounds and patient care at Banner -- University Medical Center Tucson
  • First Assist Opportunities: Occasional support in OR settings (~10%)
  • Collaborative Support: Assist surgeons in inpatient, outpatient, and OR settings as needed

Administrative Responsibilities (50%)

  • Virtual surgical planning coordination
  • Surgical planning assistance for procedures and guides
  • Accreditation support
  • Program development for craniofacial and pediatric plastics services
  • Registry Management: Develop and maintain clinical registries for research

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Part-time schedule: Five shifts over a 2-week pay period (3 days one week, 2 days the next)
  • Flexibility required: Due to split role and travel to multiple clinic sites
  • Work-life balance: No weekends, no nights, no call

Required Qualifications

  • Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Nurse Practitioners with surgical experience, particularly:
    • Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (ACPNP)
    • Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNP)
    • Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (PNP)
  • Current Board Certification, DEA license, and BLS certification
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years pediatric experience
  • Surgical experience: A plus but not required
  • RNFA Certification: Preferred for NPs; willing to support training if necessary
