St. Joseph’s Health is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Advanced Gastroenterologist to join our distinguished Division of Gastroenterology. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative, academic environment where you will provide advanced interventional care, contribute to teaching and research, and help shape the future of gastroenterology within a mission-driven hospital system.
Provide exceptional care across inpatient and outpatient settings while performing advanced GI procedures and managing complex gastrointestinal conditions.
- Inpatient Care: Deliver expert consultative and procedural care for hospitalized patients requiring advanced endoscopic services.
- Outpatient Care: Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with complex GI disorders including consultations, follow-ups, and care planning.
- Procedures: Perform a full spectrum of advanced endoscopic procedures, including but not limited to:
- Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR)
- Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD)
- Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)
- ERCP
- Endoscopic Myotomy (e.g., POEM)
- Cholangioscopy
- Electrohydraulic Lithotripsy
- Radiofrequency Ablation
- Endoscopic Suturing
- Double Balloon Enteroscopy
- Other cutting-edge procedures beyond standard colonoscopy and EGD
- Emergency Call: Participate in procedural and inpatient call coverage as designated by the Chief of Gastroenterology.
- Diagnose and treat complex GI conditions such as strictures, bleeding, tumors, and biliary/pancreatic disorders requiring advanced interventions.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including gastroenterologists, surgeons, oncologists, and radiologists to ensure coordinated care.
- Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, procedures, and care plans.
- Deliver consultative services at St. Joseph’s Health and affiliated sites, as needed.
- Engage in scholarly work, including clinical trials, quality improvement, and outcomes-based research in advanced gastroenterology.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at local, national, or international conferences.
- Remain up-to-date with advancements in endoscopy and interventional GI care through CME and ongoing professional development.
- Educate medical students, residents, and fellows in both clinical and procedural settings.
- Provide supervision and mentorship to trainees, fostering clinical skill development and academic growth.
- Contribute to curriculum development and lead educational initiatives in interventional gastroenterology.
- Participate in quality and safety initiatives within the Division of Gastroenterology.
- Attend departmental and medical staff meetings as assigned.
- Support the goals of the Department of Medicine and broader institutional mission.
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Board Certified/Eligible in Gastroenterology
- Completion of an Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship required
- Eligible for medical licensure in New Jersey
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced GI procedures and commitment to academic medicine

$397k
Pay transparency: St. Joseph’s Health provides a salary range to comply with New Jersey Law. The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc.” The salary range does not include incentives; differential pay or other forms of compensation. 191.21/HR
