Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin Department of Psychiatry in Madison, WI, is seeking to recruit a new tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level.

The Department of Psychiatry has identified brain development, stress and resilience, sleep and plasticity, as critical areas in which to promote research that will bring major advances to current knowledge about the origins and early phases of many mental health disorders.

Research can be at any level including areas relevant to genetics, molecular, neurocircuit based approaches, or psychopharmacology. The UW Department of Psychiatry has strong research programs with outstanding facilities including a 3T MRI housed in the Lane Neuroimaging Laboratory located in the Department. UWSMPH along with the entire UW is a leader in translational biomedical research and offers many opportunities for collaboration with other departments.

Key university resources to support research in mental health disorders include the Health Emotions Research Institute (HERI), a world-class center with state-of-the-art capabilities for highfield, high-resolution imaging (Lane Neuroimaging Laboratory); the UW National Primate Center and strong collaborative relationships with faculty in world-renowned research departments and centers such as the Waisman Center; Wisconsin Institute for Sleep and Consciousness, the Departments of Psychology, Neuroscience, Pediatrics, and Computer Sciences and Engineering; and the Center for Healthy Minds at UW.

The successful applicant will also participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Responsibilities:

-Position may have a blend of clinical, teaching, and research activities based on candidate interest and skills of the faculty member.

-Your responsibilities will include didactic and clinical teaching of fellows, residents, medical students and other health care trainees.

-The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Education:

Required
Terminal Degree
-MD, DO, or PhD

Qualifications:

-Demonstrated track record of successful research programs in the area of neurobiology, psychiatry, or psychology appropriate to their career stage.

-Candidates for associate professor rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for appointment and promotion on the tenure track
