Job Duties:
The [Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery][1], a part of the UW Department of Surgery, is seeking a dynamic, innovative Cardiothoracic Surgeon who has the leadership and vision to contribute to and build upon the state-of-the-art clinical and research programs at UW Health. Candidates with track record of success in maintaining an independent clinical practice with a specialization in aortic-related diseases are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will be a critical team member and partner within the Section of Adult Cardiac Surgery within the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery. Close collaboration with the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine and Vascular Surgery in multidisciplinary program building is expected, in particular centering around aortic-related disease. The successful applicant must have a demonstrated interest in clinical practice, research, education and training.
- This position is full or part time, 80%-100%.
- This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.
- This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations.
- The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every two years.
- Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles listed in this posting, including visiting, assistant, associate, or full professor. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.
- Must provide a valid driver's license. Employees may use their own transportation or receive approval for University Car Fleet usage. Key Job Responsibilities:

Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.

Participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
Required Qualifications:
- Candidate is required to have a Wisconsin medical license by the appointment start date.
- Board certification or board eligibility from the American Board of Thoracic Surgery is required by the appointment start date.
- Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges by the appointment start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
- For an appointment at Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track.
Education:
- MD, DO, or Equivalent is required
