Job Duties:

The Department of Radiology offers a unique opportunity for a Breast Imaging and Interventional Radiologist to support the Department of Radiology, University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health.

The UW Health Breast Center treats over 700 new breast cancer patients yearly and is accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. Breast imaging radiologists work side by side with an excellent, collaborative team of breast surgeons in the Breast Center. Multidisciplinary tumor board and radiology-pathology correlation conferences occur weekly. A new state-of-the-art outpatient clinic with integrated breast imaging and breast clinical care is opened in the fall of 2024, expanding our multi-disciplinary practice. The breast imaging section in the UW Department of Radiology trains three to four breast imaging fellows and many residents on an annual basis.

  • This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location.
  • This position has been identified as position of trust with access to vulnerable populations.
  • Applicants who are interested in pursuing an academic career in the Breast Imaging and Intervention section will be considered for the titles Clinical Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Professor (CHS), Associate Professor (CHS) or Assistant Professor (CHS).

Key Job Responsibilities:

CHS Track - The candidate filling this position will be specifically chosen for their expertise in breast imaging and academic interests. The duties include breast imaging, including mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, image-guided localizations, and image-guided breast biopsies, and scholarly activity in administration/operations, education and research. The successful candidate is expected to develop areas of interest in collaboration with the Breast Imaging Section Chief. Departmental teaching expectations and opportunities include medical student, resident and fellow education. Clinical, outcomes, translational, or basic science research opportunities are available and supported with Departmental and Institutional research infrastructure. Academic time is provided to support development of the candidate's interests and scholarly activities.

CT Track - The candidate filling this position will be specifically chosen for their expertise in clinical breast imaging. The duties have a primary clinical focus in breast radiology including mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, image-guided localizations, and image-guided breast biopsies. Departmental teaching opportunities are available and include medical student, resident and fellow education.

Required Qualifications:

  • WI medical license by start date of position.
  • Board-certified or board eligible by American Board of Radiology (ABR) by start date of position.
  • Fellowship training in Breast Imaging including mammography, ultrasound and breast MRI and image-guided breast biopsies is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • All Faculty: The chosen candidate will teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • CHS Faculty: The chosen applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
