Practice Model: 50% Inpatient / 50% Outpatient

Position Overview:

SSM Health Saint Louis University, SLUCare, seeks an experienced vascular surgeon or recent fellowship graduate to join our dynamic Division of Vascular Surgery. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a high-volume, Level 1 trauma center practice that serves the critical vascular surgical needs of the SSM St. Louis ministries.

About Our Division:

The Division of Vascular Surgery provides essential surgical services for high-acuity patients across the SSM St. Louis network. Our division operates at the 90th percentile for surgical volume and complexity, making this a critical addition to maintaining our exceptional standard of care. As vascular surgery is a mandatory service for Level 1 trauma center accreditation, this position is essential to our mission.

Our growing practice currently comprises 3 faculty members, with expansion opportunities available, including one additional open faculty position and two Advanced Practice Provider (APP) positions planned.

Clinical Responsibilities:

Surgical Volume & Practice Mix:

  • Perform 3-6 procedures per week
  • Balanced 50% inpatient / 50% outpatient caseload
  • High-complexity vascular cases across the spectrum

Call Coverage:

  • 1 in 5 call rotation
  • Level 1 trauma vascular coverage at multiple facilities (SLUH & CG)
  • Emergency Department call coverage at SM-SL
  • Approximately 2-3 hours per day when on-call
  • Coverage extends across SLU Hospital and expanding network sites

Patient Population:

  • High-acuity vascular surgical patients
  • Level 1 trauma vascular emergencies
  • Complex inpatient and outpatient vascular conditions

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Board certification or board eligibility in Vascular Surgery
  • Completion of accredited vascular surgery fellowship OR experienced vascular surgeon
  • Medical licensure eligible in Missouri
  • Ability to obtain privileges at SSM Health facilities

Preferred:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal abilities
  • Experience with high-volume, complex vascular cases
  • Trauma vascular surgery experience
  • Collaborative team approach
