Join a thriving and expanding private ophthalmology practice in Williamsburg, VA, with a strong focus on retina cases. This physician-led environment offers a balanced mix of clinic and surgical days, providing comprehensive services with exciting opportunities for a retina specialist. Practice Environment:
- Great blend of clinic and surgical days, with 2 days in clinic, 2 days injections, and 1 day surgery per week
- Strong payor mix: 60% Medicare and 40% Commercial
- Ophthalmologists see an average of 35-40 clinical patients per day
- Heavy retina/PRP (injections) focus, averaging ~20 per day
- Currently not equipped for surgical retina cases, with plans TBD for Summer 2026
- Clinic is 4,000 sq. ft. with 12 exam lanes and 1 testing suite with 4 rooms
Your Schedule:
- Surgery performed at the same location
- The surgical space is 3,000 sq. ft. and consists of 2 operating rooms (currently optimizing one) and 7 pre/post-op bays
- Ophthalmologists average 15-20 surgical cases per week, primarily cataracts
- Call coverage is a 1:4 rotation, primarily phone only, with an excellent screening process
- No hospital call coverage
Compensation & Benefits:
- Guaranteed base salary of $500,000, complemented by 35% net collections sharing for anticipated earnings of $600k to $700k+
- Signing bonus of $50,000 and relocation assistance up to $10,000
- Full comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and long-term care
- Malpractice coverage (claims made with tail coverage) provided
- 20 days of PTO, 6 federal holidays, plus 5 days of CME with a $5,000 annual allowance
- 401k plan with discretionary matching
