Job Highlights
OU Health is seeking a full time Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to serve in the Child Section of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (DPBS) on the Clinical Educator track; at 90% clinical effort and 10% administration, education and research effort. This faculty will report to the Chief of the Child Psychiatry Section and will be granted a faculty appointment with the University of Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Children’s Hospital OU Health Behavioral Health Center is the only facility of its kind in the state that is part of a comprehensive children’s hospital. It will provide both inpatient and outpatient care through a patient- and family centered treatment model offered nowhere else in the state. Job Responsibilities

- Meeting with patients and psychiatrically evaluating their conditions, disorders, safety or disabilities.
- Diagnosing and medical, mental health, affective and developmental conditions.
- Developing treatment plans and leading treatment teams using individual, group, expressive and family therapies and counseling, and determining need for psychiatric medication as necessary and appropriate at all levels of care
- Determining appropriate level of patient care, need for hospitalization, discharge and completing orders as indicated for both.
- Assisting patients as they cope with difficult situations.
- Educating family members or guardians regarding supporting patients.
- Consulting with OU Health providers, social services, community providers, and court systems as required.
- Continuing education activities.
- Supervise general residents, pediatric residents, students and child fellows.
- Timely documentation for assessments, follow ups, admissions and discharges
Qualifications
- A Medical degree and Oklahoma Medical License.
- Board certification in general psychiatry.
- Successful completion of an accredited child fellowship program.
- Board eligible in Child Psychiatry.
- Knowledge of and experience managing complex clinical cases.
- Ability to work under intense pressure and respond to difficult questions.
- Ability to work with and lead an interdisciplinary team
- Excellent interpersonal and team membership skills.
- Excellent verbal, writing and presentation skills.
- Excellent teaching, analytic and scholarship skills.
- Experience in program development is desirable.
Skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients.
- Have knowledge of evidence-based psychiatric assessment, intervention, and consultation.
- Have experience in research, program development, and/or quality improvement.
