The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes at Maine Medical Partners includes pediatric endocrinologists working with a robust support staff including two nurse practitioners, five certified diabetes educators, a social worker, and three endocrinology nurses, all of whom work closely with our physicians.  The division has a long history of outstanding clinical care in the full complement of endocrine disorders and all forms of diabetes.  The current opportunity could fit well with both recent fellowship graduates looking for ongoing mentorship as they develop their careers as well as more experienced physicians seeking a blend of clinical, academic, and administrative roles.

Maine Medical Partners Pediatric Specialty Care is a large multi-specialty group that provides specialty health care for children in Maine and Southern New Hampshire. Clinical services are available at the Portland site as well as select outreach sites throughout Maine. All providers are on the medical staff of The Barbara Bush Children's Hospital (BBCH), a 116 bed tertiary care pediatric hospital within Maine Medical Center.  The BBCH is Maine’s only dedicated children's hospital, providing comprehensive services including a PICU, NICU, dedicated pediatric section in the ED, and a 35 bed Inpatient Unit.

Maine Medical Center has 700 licensed beds and is the state’s leading tertiary hospital and Level One Trauma Center, with a full complement of residencies and fellowships, and is an integral part of the Tufts University School of Medicine.  The successful candidate would have an academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Our program works in a multidisciplinary fashion with several other programs in our system including the pediatric Weight and Wellness clinic, Muscular Dystrophy program, the Gender Clinic, Differences of Sex Development, and the Maine Children’s Cancer Program. We are active participants in the Tufts University School of Medicine and the Pediatric Residency program both in the clinical and research arenas.  The pediatric endocrinology division has a strong teaching reputation among students and residents.

The successful candidate will be employed by Maine Medical Partners (MMP), a subsidiary of Maine Medical Center and Maine’s largest multi-specialty group.  MMP serves the health care needs of patients throughout Maine and Northern New England.  This high-quality team of more than 600 physicians and 350 advanced practice professionals provides a wide range of hospital based, primary, specialty, and sub-specialty adult and pediatric care delivered throughout a network of 54 locations across the State and acts as a regional referral network.

Situated on the Maine coast, Portland offers the best of urban sophistication combined with small-town friendliness.  The area provides four season recreational opportunities, such as skiing, hiking, sailing, and miles of beautiful beaches. Portland is consistently voted one of the top spots in America to raise a family and was ranked in the top 5 U.S. cities for The Best Quality of Life by Forbes Magazine in 2024.
