MedStar Health is seeking experienced Critical Care Physician Assistants (PAs) and Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (NPs) to join one of the Mid-Atlantic’s premier academic tertiary and quaternary referral centers in Washington, D.C.. Practice at the top of your license as a Cardiovascular Critical Care APP in the CVICU at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, working alongside experienced intensivists, cardiac surgeons, and multidisciplinary specialty teams within the MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute (MHVI). As the flagship hospital of MHVI, MedStar Washington Hospital Center delivers leading-edge care for patients with the most complex cardiovascular conditions. In our specialized Cardiovascular Intensive Care Units (CVICUs) and recovery units, patients benefit from advanced technology, innovative therapies, and the expertise of a highly collaborative multidisciplinary team.

Position Highlights

  • 900+ bed teaching hospital and major referral center for high-acuity patients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
  • Level I Trauma Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, top 5% cardiac surgery program, and regional ECMO referral center.
  • Flagship hospital of the MedStar Heart & Vascular Institute (MHVI) and a regional hub for interventional cardiology, advanced heart failure and transplant, cardiovascular critical care, and cardiac and vascular surgery.
  • The Cardiovascular Critical Care service has a total closed ICU footprint of 40 beds.
  • APPs manage patients recovering from cardiac surgery, advanced heart failure requiring mechanical circulatory support, ECMO, vascular surgery, and medically complex cardiovascular critical illness.
  • 13-hour day and night shifts.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited PA or Acute Care NP program
  • NCCPA or AGACNP certification
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • CVICU, CICU, or ICU experience is strongly preferred
  • Advanced procedural experience preferred

Compensation Details

$135K–$185K

The hiring range is the range MedStar Health, in good faith, believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future and actual compensation may vary from posting based on work experience, education and/or skill level, etc. Even within the range, the actual compensation will vary depending on the above factors as well as market/business considerations.
