The Emergency Department at Rush University Medical Center is currently recruiting for a Per Diem Advanced Practice Provider to join their team.
* This role will function on a rotating shift schedule including nights and weekends along side a team of 44 attending physicians, 36 residents, 4 fellows and 10 APPs. Standard per diem shift expectation is 2 shifts per month.
*Previous Emergency Medicine Advanced Practice Provider experience required.
Rush has over 400 APPs across the enterprise that provide comprehensive patient care each day autonomously and in collaboration with other members of the health care team. With 2 Directors of Advanced Practice and 27 Lead APPs across the system, Rush's vision is to have every APP practicing at full scope and top of license. APPs at Rush are highly competent, well respected members of the healthcare team that contribute to the excellent quality care that Rush patients receive each day.
Job Responsibilities:

Performance of the following services and procedures:
- History and Physical * Patient Care Orders
- Prescribe Controlled Substances (Schedule II, III, IV, or V: DEA and IL controlled substance license required)
- Block - Local and Regional * Closed Reduction of Fracture or Dislocation * Fracture/Dislocation Immobilization
- Injection/Aspiration of Bursa or Joint * Laceration Repair
- Trephination
- Incision and Drainage Slip Lamp/Tonometry
- Dental Procedures
Job Qualifications:
APRN Applicant Requirements:
- Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure required.
- Current Nurse Practitioner Certification from a national certifying organization approved Master's or Doctorate degree in nursing required.
- The APRN's education and specialty board certification must correlate with the APP's job role, setting, responsibility and patient population.
- BLS and ACLS certification required.
PA Applicant Requirements:
- Current State of Illinois Physician Assistant Licensure required.
- Current Certification from National Certification Commission for Physician Assistants (NCCPA) required.
- Degree from an ARC-PA (or predecessor) accredited PA Program required; Master's degree preferred.
- BLS and ACLS certification required.
Skills/Abilities:
- Demonstrates competency in all areas of APRN or PA practice including: medical knowledge, interpersonal and communication skills, patient care, professionalism, practice based learning and improvement, and systems based practice.
- Skill in preparing and maintaining electronic and paper medical records
- Knowledge of current and emerging trends in technologies, techniques, issues, and approaches in area of expertise. Strong work ethic, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with collaborating physician, department, and other members of the healthcare team in an effective and comprehensive manner.
Rush offers competitive compensation tailored to our clinical workforce. The hourly rate shown reflects the factors considered in making pay decisions, including specialty, relevant experience, advanced training, and organizational needs. Because this is a per diem position, it is compensated at a fixed hourly rate and is not eligible for incentive pay or full-time employee benefits.
Pay Range: $80.00 per hour
