Responsibilities
Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospitalist Duties and Responsibilities (12 hour shifts)
- Care for unassigned inpatient OB and GYN patients
- Provide triage and / or OB ED services
- Provide GYN consultations for hospitalized patients and the Emergency Department
- Oversee residents, fellows, midwives or advanced practice nurses
- Provide call coverage and L&D support: interpretation of EFM strips, stand-by for deliveries, perform delivery and monitoring of laboring patients for private OBs
- Serve as MFM extenders
- Surgically assist for other OBs or gynecologists
General Obstetrics and Gynecology attending physician Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides general primary obstetric and gynecological care using generally accepted standards of practice. The physician develops a plan of care for each patient, including complete history, physical examination, diagnosis, appropriate treatment and /or referral, uses all available resources in an appropriate and cost efficient manner.
- Hospitalizes as needed any patient requiring in-patient care. Provides obstetric and gynecological care according to accepted ACOG standards during the hospitalization.
- Confers with consulting physicians, mid-level providers, nurses, support staff, patients, and families concerning treatment and care of patients. Makes appropriate specialty and sub-specialty referrals, but maintains responsibility, assuring continuing of care.
- Perform general gynecological and obstetric surgical procedures, both diagnostic and therapeutic, using both minimally invasive and traditional surgical techniques.
- Physician will enter into Collaborative agreements with SJH midlevel providers including midwives.
- Participates in health promotion/disease prevention activities. Stresses the importance of preventive health care measures.
- Supports mid-level providers in supervision and consultation.
- Participates in quality improvement/assurance activities.
- Attends and participates in SJH activities as requested.
- Attends mandatory in-services and Employer meetings.
- Completes records in adequate professional detail, and in a timely manner using electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Maintains and acquires knowledge and skills to perform required duties to meet all hospital, state, organizational and licensure requirements.
- Abides by the Employer Obstetrics Department protocols and guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned by the Chairman, and/or Vice President of Physician Services, to meet the goal of providing excellent health care.

The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc.” The salary range does not include incentives; differential pay or other forms of compensation. 121.68/HR
