How you'll make an impact in this role

Ascension Illinois is looking for a Board Certified/Board Eligible Palliative Care Physician for our Palliative Care and Hospice Department.

This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Ascension Illinois to provide medical services to patients.

Position Highlights:

  • Physician will provide consultation services, Monday-Friday

  • Looking for physicians that thrive in a multidisciplinary teams and are comfortable working alongside Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers and Chaplains

Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical services to patients in an assigned area.
  • Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Coordinate
    discharge planning with case management.
  • Recommend, participate in, and work to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
  • Accept patient referrals from other physicians. Act as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.
  • Participate in academic programs (eg medical education and research) as requested.
  • Provide appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
  • Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.

What minimum requirements you'll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
