The Opportunity:

Piedmont Newnan Hospital is proud to have state-of-the-art maternity services and offers maternity tours, breastfeeding basics classes, and inpatient and outpatient lactation support. Piedmont Newnan Hospital has an expanded medical team specializing in maternity care, hydrotherapy and aromatherapy in labor, private labor and delivery triage rooms, and spacious labor and delivery & postpartum rooms. Piedmont Newnan Hospital also has a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Piedmont Newnan Hospital currently sees approximately 1,600 annual deliveries.

Newnan, hometown of country singer Alan Jackson, is also known as the City of Homes. The community’s six National Register Historic Districts contain some of Georgia's most beautiful homes surrounding a courthouse square, all located just 30 minutes south of Atlanta. Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy year-round biking trails, hundreds of acres of walking trails, and a variety of water activities. The African American Heritage Museum & Research Center is also located in Newnan and serves as a genealogy workroom for African American research. Adjacent to the museum is the Farmer Street Cemetery, which may be the largest slave cemetery in the South.

OBHG OB/GYN Hospitalists are the in-house experts whose ability to handle any obstetric emergency dramatically improves patient safety and satisfaction.

This opportunity involves working collaboratively with local obstetricians to ensure that every pregnant woman who presents to the hospital is cared for by an experienced physician every time. We are seeking OB/GYNs with exceptional clinical and communication skills, a passion for healthcare quality improvement, and a desire to shape the future of our specialty.

A day in the life includes:

• Caring for all pregnant women who present emergent, regardless of circumstance
• Cultivating relationships with staff nurses and hospital personnel
• Supporting private practice physicians by providing coverage and assistance
• Caring for unassigned patients
• Evaluating and treating triage patients
• Providing consultation to the ED
• Monitoring labor
• Delivering babies
• Performing surgery and surgical assists
• Evaluating and treating postpartum patients
• Providing nurse support and education
