The Department of Surgery at the University of Arizona-Tucson seeks to recruit an academic abdominal multi-organ transplant surgeon at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. The successful applicant will have an interest in pursuing a career focused primarily on kidney and pancreas transplantation. Responsibilities are broad and include deceased and living donor kidney transplantation, liver transplantation, pancreas transplantation, dialysis access procedures and general surgical procedures for patients with end organ failure. The position involves active participation in a multidisciplinary team that manages patients through the entire transplant process. Banner University Medical Center, Tucson has an active lung transplant program in addition to abdominal organ transplantation. Physicians at Banner University Medical Center-Tucson provide clinical care at a state-of-the-art inpatient facility that opened in 2019 and at an outpatient facility that opened in 2018.

*Qualified candidate will receive a faculty appointment with the University of Arizona that is consistent with their credentials.

Qualifications and Essential Functions:

  • BC/BE in General Surgery
  • Completed ASTS accredited transplant fellowship program
  • Valid AZ license (or eligible to receive)
  • Candidates with an interest and experience in living donor transplantation, including paired exchange transplants are preferred
  • Training in multi-organ procurement, kidney, liver, and pancreas transplantation is essential
  • Applicants should have demonstrated skill and interest in teaching learners at all levels
  • Mentorship available
  • Opportunities for research as well as leadership development are available
  • Experienced and new physicians are welcome to apply, however candidates with several years of experience are preferred
