  • South Beach Psychiatric Center (SBPC); a Joint Commission accredited Office of Mental Health (OMH) facility, is recruiting a Clinical Director, who will serve as the Chief Medical Officer. The Clinical Director is responsible for the administration, oversight, evaluation, and continuous improvement of all psychiatric, medical, and contracted medical services provided by staff and consultants, including:

    · Participation in overall executive management and strategic plan development

    · Oversight of the credentialing and privileging process

    · Development and implementation of clinical policies and procedures

    · Compliance with OMH, The Joint Commission (TJC), ACGME, and other external accrediting bodies’ standards, rules, and regulations

    · Promotion of culturally competent, person-centered, and recovery-focused care

    The Clinical Director ensures that the clinical mission of SBPC is successfully aligned with the overall mission of OMH to promote the mental health and well-being of all New Yorkers so that they can reach their goal of recovery.

    SBPC completed construction on a brand-new, modern $250 million inpatient facility located in State Island, NY. SBPC offers a comprehensive continuum of behavioral health services to adults with serious mental illness and children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances living in Brooklyn and Staten Island. SBPC is a teaching site for psychiatry residents from Richmond University Medical Center and New York University (NYU).

    SBPC provides recovery-oriented and patient-centered behavioral health treatment to 3,500 individuals. Their inpatient facility provides care to approximately 335 patients including units devoted to children and adolescents and medically complex patients. SBPC’s network of community services is comprised of Transitional Living Residences, outpatient clinics in Brooklyn and Staten Island, Children and Youth Day Treatment, MIT and ACT teams and specialized treatment programs serving LGBTQ+ clients and Limited English Proficiency (LEP) patients.

    SBPC partnered with New York State Psychiatric Institute and Columbia University to build OnTrackNY, a first-in-the-nation mental health treatment program for individuals between ages 18-30 that have experienced first episode psychosis.

    Minimum Qualifications

    License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State or a New York State limited permit and licensure in another state or Canada;

    AND

    Certification in Psychiatry issued by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or equivalent certifying body;

    AND

    Seven years of experience providing services to people diagnosed with mental illness, two years of which must have included supervising physicians and other clinical staff responsible for the delivery of treatment services; providing direction to staff regarding program objectives and the implementation of policy; and providing guidance to various clinical specialists.

    AND

    Eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.

    OMH’s Division of Forensic Services provides mental health services for justice-involved individuals which includes:

    • Three accredited secure forensic psychiatric centers and one regional forensic unit
    • Prison-based mental health satellite units
    • Residential programs located within prison facilities
    • Secure treatment and rehabilitation facilities for the care and treatment of individuals confined under the sex
    offender civil management initiative
    • Community-based training and technical assistance services for local governmental units, including Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training and diversion services

    Compensation Details

    $312K–$360K
