University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School

The Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care at The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School is recruiting a Urologist with fellowship training in Genito-Urinary Reconstruction to join our team as an Assistant, Associate or full Professor.

The faculty member will be an integral part of the rapidly expanding urology practice. The current urologic service at Dell Medical School is composed of a specialist in minimally invasive surgery / endourology and two urologist oncologists. A urologist specializing in genitourinary reconstruction who had developed a large referral practice recently left the organization. There is an opportunity to maintain and build further this genitourinary reconstruction practice. The individual should have interest in continuing to evolve and expand an ambitious urology practice that is the primary practice for un-insured and under-insured patients in Travis County, but also cares for patients referred from other urologists locally and regionally.

Of note, Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas, where the surgical practice is primarily located, is home to plastic surgeons, colorectal surgeons and gynecologists who often collaborate in care of patients with genitourinary reconstruction needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a clinical content expert on GURS
  • Evolve and expand the program within Dell Medical School and other sites of service
  • Assist in the training and management of a new clinical team
  • Participate in strategic planning and other efforts directly tied to development and growth
  • Assist in the creation of a data and evaluation infrastructure for regularly assessing the clinical quality and cost outcomes for patients
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with referring physicians, hospitals, and ancillary providers
  • Train and mentor medical students and residents on new models of care and clinical practice

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas (or the ability to obtain prior to appointment);
  • Board certified or board eligible by the American Board of Urology
  • Fellowship training in GURS
  • Eligible for appointment as an Assistant, Associate or full Professor rank
