  • Job Summary:

    We are seeking a Board-Eligible/Board-Certified Inpatient Gastroenterologist to join our hospital-based team at Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia. This role offers the opportunity to practice in a high-performing, patient-centered environment with strong subspecialty support and advanced clinical resources.

    As part of Centra Medical Group, you will collaborate with the established independent group, Gastroenterology Associates of Central VA, delivering consultative and procedural GI care within a Level II Trauma Center. This position offers clinical focus, exceptional work-life balance, and highly competitive compensation.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide focused inpatient gastroenterology consultations and procedures

    • Manage an average of 10–15 consults per day

    • Perform endoscopic procedures (ERCP training preferred)

    • Collaborate with hospitalists who manage all admissions (consult-only service)

    • Work alongside dedicated APP support for inpatient consults

    • Participate in a 1:9 shared call rotation with the independent GI group

    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record

    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surgery, interventional radiology, and critical care

    Qualifications:

    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited institution

    • Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency and Gastroenterology fellowship

    • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Gastroenterology

    • ERCP training preferred

    • Valid, unrestricted medical license

    • Strong communication and collaborative practice skills

    Work Environment & Schedule:

    • Monday–Friday schedule

    • 6–8 weeks of vacation annually

    • 1:9 call schedule shared with local independent GI group

    • Time off covered by Gastroenterology Associates group

    • Consult-only inpatient service (no admissions)

    • Opportunity to perform outpatient procedures

    • Practice within a 360-bed Level II Trauma Center

    • Supported by 24/7 acute care surgeons, hospitalists, and interventional radiologists

    Compensation & Benefits:
