  • Job Summary:

    The Anna Shaw Children’s Institute (ASCI) at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, Georgia, is seeking a Developmental-Behavioral or Neurodevelopmental Pediatrician to join a multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving the lives of children.

    Located in a newly constructed 54,000 sq. ft. freestanding facility, ASCI integrates pediatric subspecialty services, therapy, behavioral health, and family resources under one roof — designed to deliver coordinated, family-centered, high-quality care for children with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, learning disabilities, genetic disorders, and other special healthcare needs.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide expert evaluation and management for children with developmental and behavioral disorders, neurodevelopmental disabilities, and complex medical needs
    • Collaborate within an interdisciplinary team of developmental-behavioral pediatricians, psychologists, therapists, and behavioral analysts to create comprehensive care plans
    • Perform developmental-behavioral assessments and diagnostic evaluations, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, genetic syndromes, and learning disabilities
    • Partner closely with primary care providers to ensure effective communication and continuity of care
    • Participate in community education, outreach, and advocacy initiatives promoting inclusion and early intervention for children with developmental challenges
    • Mentor and teach residents through GME-affiliated Internal Medicine and Family Medicine programs
    • Contribute to quality improvement, clinical innovation, and research initiatives within the institute

    Qualifications:

    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited institution
    • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics or Neurodevelopmental Disabilities
    • Strong commitment to family-centered, interdisciplinary care
    • Demonstrated leadership, advocacy, and collaboration skills
    • Interest in teaching and mentoring residents or medical students
    • Vision for advancing care and inclusion for children and families with disabilities
    • Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Georgia

    Practice Overview:

    • Interdisciplinary provider team includes
      • PT, OT, SLP
      • Nurse Practitioners
      • Psychologists
      • Licensed Professional Counselor
      • Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs)
      • Social Worker, Educational Resource Coordinator, and Care Navigator

    Work Environment & Schedule:

    1. Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM
    2. Pediatric clinic volume: approximately 100 visits per month (mix of new and established patients)
    3. Opportunities for program development, leadership, and community engagement
    4. Involvement in multidisciplinary clinics, including
      1. Autism and Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) program
    5. Educational coordination for ADHD and learning disorders
    6. Neonatal Neurodevelopmental Follow-Up Clinic
    7. Care for children with neuromuscular and complex developmental conditions
