Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine (BU-CASM),the Section of Rheumatology, at Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center, is seeking a Board Certified/Eligible Principal Investigator-Rheumatologist interested in clinical research, with an interest in osteoarthritis. Boston Medical Center, the academic teaching medical center for BU-CASM, offers State-of-the-art care with all the latest medical and surgical technology.
The successful candidate will participate in clinical practice and hold teaching responsibilities for Rheumatology fellows, internal medicine residents, and medical students. The candidate will demonstrate excellence in patient care, academic achievement, and evidence of excellence in teaching. The Department of Rheumatology provides a full range of services for arthritis and systemic rheumatic autoimmune diseases. Our rheumatologists work closely with providers in other departments, including pharmacists, to ensure our patients receive the best care possible.
About Department of Rheumatology: Our faculty has clinical and research expertise in numerous different areas of rheumatic diseases and research methodology. Many of our faculty are national and international leaders in their respective fields, with several faculty members leading national treatment guideline efforts and other research and clinical endeavors. The Rheumatology Fellowship Training Program is nationally recognized for its clinical and research training, including musculoskeletal ultrasound training.
About Section Chief of Rheumatology: Tuhina Neogi, MD, PhD, is the Chief of Rheumatology. Dr. Neogi is a rheumatologist and epidemiologist whose research has focused primarily on risk factors for knee osteoarthritis and gout, pain mechanisms in knee osteoarthritis, as well as methodologic issues of relevance for rheumatic diseases, with a continuous peer-reviewed foundation and NIH funding since 2003, and has over 300 peer-reviewed publications to date. Dr. Neogi is a a past chair of the FDA Arthritis Advisory Committee, serve(d) on the boards two international societies: Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI) and Gout, Hyperuricemia, and Crystal-Associated Diseases Network (G-CAN), and on committees for the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and International Association for the Study Pain (IASP), among others.
Compensation: Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine (BU-CASM) offers a competitive salary commensurate with academic training and practice experience.
Requirements: Qualified candidates will have an MD, MD PhD, or DO and will be BE/BC in Rheumatology. Candidates must be licensed or eligible for a medical license in Massachusetts. Academic rank will be based on qualifications and experience.
