We are recruiting a talented Physician Assistant (PA-C) Surgical Nocturnist to join our General Surgery / Emergency General Surgery Service at Cedars-Sinai Marina Del Ray Hospital. The PA-C role provides high quality, efficient and team-based patient care under the supervision of the physician to surgical patients in the acute care or inpatient setting.

  • Clinically responsible and accountable for the application of the PA-C standard of care and scope process. This will include patient care, consultative services, education (patient, family, and self), and other duties as assigned.
  • Performs appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for identification and management of patient diagnosis following established standardized protocols within the scope of practice of a PA-C and with approved privileges.
  • Examines patients, performs comprehensive physical examination, and preoperative history, orders diagnostic tests, reviews results and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examinations. Reports to the surgeon as needed, all in a timely manner.
  • Develops and implement patient management plans and assist in provision of continuity of care.
  • Works collaboratively with the attending physician, consulting physician(s), and other teams to identify, develop, and implement an appropriate plan of care that improves individual patient/family preference and enhances quality, access, and efficient outcomes.
  • Facilitates patient discharge, dictates discharge and transfer summaries in a timely manner.
  • Writes orders with respect to patient care under the direction of the Supervising Physician.
  • Documents patient care services within the Epic system and when within their scope of practice and active medical privileges, perform surgical procedures.
  • Participates in research and educational activities that will improve professional development including attending continuing education programs relevant to area of practice and participating in professional organizations.
  • Assesses quality of patient care delivery and finds opportunities for changes in practice, rooted in evidence-based standards of care/protocols, which promote positive patient outcomes.
  • Initiates emergency resuscitation and stabilization as vital in compliance with hospital safety regulations and infection control.

**Qualifications**

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program required.
  • Completion of an accredited RNFA program required
  • Bachelor's Degree.

License/Certification:

  • Current, unrestricted California PA license.
  • DEA License (schedule 2-5)
  • National PA Certification
  • ACLS Life Support certification (AHA or ARC)

Experience:

  • 2 years of General Surgery, or Emergency General Surgery experience as a Physician Assistant.
  • 2 years of RNFA experience
  • Surgical residency or fellowship strongly desired

Overtime Status : EXEMPT
Primary Shift : Night
Shift Duration : 12 hour
Base Pay : $147,284.80 - $235,664.00
