Division Chief of Cardiology & Director of Cardiovascular Service Line

Position Purpose

As a physician leader within Renown Medical Group (RMG) and University of Nevada Reno (UNR), the Division Chief of Cardiology at URN and Director of the Cardiovascular Service Line will work directly and jointly with the providers in the Heart and Vascular Health. Direct Reports include physicians and/or advanced practice clinicians within the Heart and Vascular service line. The role will need to work effectively within matrix relationships of Renown Health, UNR and with other community physicians and leaders.

Nature and Scope

The Chief of Cardiology will provide innovative and dynamic leadership and in conjunction with the dyad administrative partner will be responsible for driving operational performance, provider engagement, recruitment, strategic planning, analysis, and implementation of the infrastructure, processes, and systems to support effective and high-quality clinical care, education, and research within the context of the Affiliation Agreement between Renown Health and UNR Med.

The Division chief will serve as the Director of Cardiovascular Services at Renown Health, which is a multi-disciplinary center focused on excellence in cardiac care. In this role the incumbent will help to develop and oversees sections including General Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Heart Failure, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Cardiac Imaging, and the Women's Heart Center and hold responsibility for key initiatives in driving performance of these groups and meeting financial objectives for the organization. In addition, the incumbent will be a strategic leader focused on the growth and alignment of Vascular and Cardiothoracic surgery. The Division Chief of Cardiology will report to the Chief Executive Officer of Renown Medical Group with strong alignment with Renown Health's service line executive leadership. In addition and for academic advancement, this position will report to the Chair of the Department of Internal Medicine for the incumbent's joint faculty position with UNR Med

This position does provide direct patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Education:

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English. Medical Degree from an accredited Medical School required. Advanced degree in business desirable. Master's of Healthcare Administration or Master's of Business Administration preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of three to five years leadership experience in acute health care facility and/or an integrated health network. Preference given to those candidates with previous medical leadership experience with an integrated health network.

License(s):

Must possess and maintain a current and valid State of Nevada Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) medicine license. Controlled substance License to Prescribe issued by the State of Nevada and Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the DEA, required.

Certification(s):

Board certified in Cardiovascular Disease through the American Boad of Internal Medicine (ABIM) required. Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Certification Life Support (ACLS) by the American Heart Association required.

Ability to credential through Renown's Medical Staff and/or payor credentialing, as applicable.
