  • Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Pathologist (MD) to join our hospital-based pathology program at Seattle Children’s. In this role, you will provide anatomic and clinical pathology services for pediatric patients — delivering accurate diagnoses that guide treatment and care across multiple specialties. You’ll work closely with physicians, surgeons, and care teams to support high-quality, family-centered medicine in a leading pediatric hospital and contribute to academic and teaching missions.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Examine and interpret surgical pathology, biopsies, tissue specimens, and other pathology samples to render accurate diagnoses.
    • Provide consultative support to pediatricians, surgeons, and subspecialists on complex pathology cases and lab findings.
    • Oversee pathology workflows and ensure quality control, compliance with hospital and regulatory standards, and timely reporting.
    • Contribute to the institution’s academic mission — including teaching, case reviews, and collaboration with academic partners.
    • Maintain detailed, accurate pathology reports and documentation; communicate findings clearly and thoughtfully.
    • Participate in interdisciplinary care planning when pathology findings inform treatment decisions.
    • Engage in continuous improvement, lab best practices, and may participate in research or special pathology projects as appropriate.

    Qualifications:

    • MD (or DO) degree from an accredited institution
    • Board eligibility or certification in pediatric (or anatomic) pathology
    • Active, unrestricted medical license in the State of Washington
    • Eligibility (or willingness) for hospital medical staff privileges at Seattle Children’s
    • Strong diagnostic, analytic, and communication skills; meticulous attention to detail
    • Ability to work collaboratively with clinical teams and across specialties
    • Commitment to academic excellence, pediatric care, and quality pathology practice

    Work Environment & Schedule:

    • Hospital-based pathology department serving pediatric patients across diverse specialties
    • Collaborative, academic medical center environment with access to broad subspecialty care, teaching, and research opportunities
    • Opportunity to impact patient care across the full spectrum of pediatric medicine — from routine biopsies to complex surgical pathology
    • Full-time schedule with expected commitment to quality, responsiveness, and ongoing professional engagement

    Compensation & Benefits:

    • Annual Salary Range: Approximately $300,000 – $450,000+ (depending on experience, credentials, and academic rank)
    • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, retirement plan, paid time off, and support for continuing education and academic work.
    • Opportunity for academic appointment (faculty status), professional growth, and involvement in teaching and research.

    Why Join Us:

    • Be part of a top-tier children’s hospital dedicated to excellence in pediatric medicine, offering ample opportunities to influence patient care.
    • Work in a dynamic, collaborative academic environment that supports pathology excellence, teaching, and continuous learning.
    • Contribute directly to diagnosis and care for children — a meaningful and high-impact role that supports families and multidisciplinary care teams.
    • Benefit from a robust compensation and benefits package, academic opportunities, and a supportive institutional culture committed to patient-centered care and medical innovation.
