Duke Orthopaedic Surgery is seeking two board-certified or board-eligible, fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Surgeons in Adult Reconstruction to join the division in Raleigh, North Carolina. These positions support continued growth across both the department and the surrounding community.

Ideal candidates will be fellowship-trained in Adult Reconstruction, with expertise in primary and revision hip and knee arthroplasty. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to clinical excellence, education, and academic engagement, with interest in clinical outcomes research considered a plus. You will join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team practicing across multiple sites with diverse clinical environments and strong institutional support.

Experience Pathways:

Early-Career / Fellowship-Trained Surgeons

  • Recently completed Adult Reconstruction fellowship
  • Interested in launching a combined clinical and academic career
  • Motivated to teach residents and fellows, with optional research engagement
  • Expected to perform hip and knee arthroplasty across inpatient and outpatient settings

Experienced Surgeons (5+ Years)

  • Seeking advancement in a hybrid clinical-academic environment
  • Opportunities to expand programs, lead initiatives, and contribute to service line growth
  • Ability to mentor junior faculty and participate in leadership or quality/outcomes efforts
  • Experience in high-efficiency surgical environments (e.g., outpatient or ASC-based arthroplasty) is highly desirable
  • Expected to perform hip and knee arthroplasty across inpatient and outpatient settings

Practice Details: 90% clinical / 10% academic role

  • Primary inpatient surgical site: Duke Raleigh Hospital, close to downtown Raleigh
  • Clinics on the campus of Duke Raleigh Hospital and Raleigh surburban clinic locations
  • Outpatient surgical opportunities include the Arringdon surgical platform, with continued growth of ambulatory surgical capabilities

Research & Academic Opportunities: Duke offers a robust research infrastructure for candidates with academic interests. Faculty may pursue clinical outcomes research, collaborative scholarship, and interdisciplinary work across the university.

Academic appointment and rank will be commensurate with experience and training.

Qualifications

  • Fellowship training in Adult Reconstruction (required)
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopaedic Surgery
  • Eligible for medical licensure in North Carolina
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient care, education, and scholarship
