Join Our Team as a Dermatology Section Chief - Department of Veterans Affairs, New Mexico

The New Mexico VA Health Care System is seeking a dynamic and visionary Full-time Physician (Dermatology Section Chief). This leadership role involves performing evaluations and treatment recommendations for patients with dermatology conditions, teaching dermatology to learners and colleagues, and engaging in scholarly activities.

Major duties include, but are not limited to:

• Leadership and Oversight: Lead and inspire a team of dermatologists, ensuring high standards of care and fostering a collaborative environment.
• Comprehensive Dermatology Care: Provide expert dermatology care to outpatients, including evaluations, consultations, examinations, diagnosis, follow-up, documentation, and correspondence.
• Collaboration and Training: Work closely with primary care provider staff, offering dermatology training and education as needed.
• Scholarly Activities: Engage in and promote scholarly activities related to their role as Faculty.
• Teaching and Mentorship: Train and mentor medical students, dermatology residents, and other trainees.
• Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on the management and understanding of dermatological conditions and treatments.
• Procedural Expertise: Perform minor procedures such as biopsies, shave biopsies, simple excisions, cryotherapy, and intraregional injections.
• TeleDermatology: Participate in electronic consultations (e-consult) and telemedicine consultations to improve access to quality dermatology care through tele-dermatology and related technologies.
• Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission of the department.
