  • The Division of Infectious Diseases at Phoenix Children’s is seeking APPs, NPs or PAs, to provide clinical care at Phoenix Children’s main campus.

    The ideal candidate has at least two years of experience in inpatient pediatrics. Prior infectious disease experience is desirable, although not required.

    This position and our entire service have primarily inpatient activities, but all division members take part in some of the outpatient clinic activities. The position will include some rotating weekend and holiday coverage.

    Inpatient duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Seeing patients with the ID physicians on the clinical inpatient consultation service.
    • Obtaining health history and performing physical examination.
    • Documentation in the Electronic Medical Record System (EMR).
    • Assisting with consults and follow-up visits on inpatients.
    • Recommending and interpreting diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities.
    • Supporting and coordinating care with multi-disciplinary consulting teams, e.g., nursing, residents, fellows, attendings, pharmacy, specialty consultants.
    • Providing patient and family education.

    Participation in focused quality or research projects, in conjunction with the ID attending team, is encouraged. Active involvement in resident, fellow, and medical student teaching through affiliated programs is expected.

    The successful candidate will become an integral member of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Phoenix Children’s. This is a growing division responsible for providing infectious disease care for the rapidly growing population of the greater Phoenix metropolitan area.

    Job Qualifications

    • Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association or obtained by start date.
    • Current State of Arizona certification as a Nurse Practitioner OR Current State of Arizona certification as a Physician Assistant or obtained by start date.
    • National board certification to match the area of education OR maintain a certificate in the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

    Education

    • Master’s or Doctorate from an Accreditation Commission for Nursing (ACEN) and/or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited graduate school of nursing in Pediatric Acute care, Pediatric primary care or Family Medicine OR Master’s degree from a nationally accredited ARC-PA program.
