Compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner – Rockland, ME
Frontline Care | Healing | Collaborative
Are you ready to be the turning point in a patient’s recovery journey? In addiction medicine, Advanced Practice Providers are the crucial bridge between crisis and stabilization. We are seeking a compassionate, highly skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to partner with our multidisciplinary team to deliver lifesaving, medically monitored treatment.
In this role, you aren’t just performing health screenings—you are establishing trust, managing complex physiological transitions, and restoring dignity to individuals reclaiming their lives from substance use disorders.
The Impact You Will Make
- Establish Trust from Day One: Often, your intake physical is the first time a patient has received compassionate, judgment-free medical care in years. You will set the tone for their entire recovery journey.
- Drive Stabilization and Recovery: By expertly managing medication orders and dosage adjustments, you will directly alleviate suffering and guide patients safely through the physical hurdles of recovery.
- Elevate the Care Team: You will be a vital clinical resource on the floor. By training nursing staff, collaborating with counselors, and stepping in during medical emergencies, you will elevate the overall standard of care within the facility.
- Champion Whole-Person Health: Because addiction rarely exists in a vacuum, you will identify co-occurring medical conditions, review lab results, and ensure patients are connected with primary care providers for comprehensive, long-term wellness.
Key Responsibilities
As a clinical pillar of our treatment center, your day-to-day responsibilities will blend direct patient care, clinical leadership, and vital administrative oversight:
- Comprehensive Patient Evaluations: Conduct thorough admission, readmission, and annual physical examinations, while reviewing admissions-related laboratory results with patients.
- Medication Management: Issue medication change orders (including verbal orders, compliant with state regulations) and ensure nursing staff accurately executes dosage adjustments. Step in to label medication bottles in the absence of the pharmacist.
- Clinical Collaboration: Actively participate in weekly treatment team meetings with counselors and the Program Director to discuss patient progress and adjust care plans as needed.
- Urgent Care & Triage: Serve as the on-site clinical authority for the emergency management of patient care.
- Mentorship & Oversight: Assist in training the nursing staff, ensuring clinical protocols are followed safely and effectively.
- Clinical Documentation: Review, complete, and sign all appropriate clinical documentation and reports to maintain rigorous standards of compliance and care.
