  • Henry Ford Health is seeking an experienced psychiatrist with expertise in substance use disorders to serve as Medical Director of Addiction Services. This physician leader will provide strategic, clinical, and operational oversight for a comprehensive continuum of addiction treatment services across the behavioral health service line, including residential treatment, intensive outpatient programs, outpatient services, and hospital-based addiction consultation services.

    The Medical Director will partner closely with behavioral health leadership, physicians, and community stakeholders to advance evidence-based addiction care, improve access to treatment, and integrate substance use disorder services throughout the healthcare system.

    Responsibilities include overseeing clinical quality, program development, physician engagement, regulatory compliance, and implementation of innovative models of care that support whole-person health and recovery-oriented treatment.

    The role also includes leading quality improvement initiatives, mentoring physicians and advanced practice providers, and supporting workforce development, education, and community partnerships focused on prevention, recovery support, and stigma reduction.

    This position offers the opportunity to shape and expand addiction medicine services within a large integrated health system committed to equitable, patient-centered behavioral healthcare.

    Requirements:

    • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
    • Board certification in Psychiatry, additional certification in Addiction Medicine, or Addiction Psychiatry.
    • Current or eligible for medical licensure in the state of Michigan
    • Minimum 5–7 years of progressive clinical leadership experience
    • Demonstrated experience leading addiction treatment programs across multiple levels of care
    • Experience working within complex healthcare systems or academic medical centers
