The James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital, one of the largest and most advanced Veterans Affairs medical centers in the nation, is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join our highly respected surgical team in Tampa, Florida.

Position Overview

The Cardiothoracic Surgeon will provide comprehensive surgical care for patients with diseases of the heart, lungs, esophagus, and thoracic cavity. The physician will work closely with cardiology, pulmonary medicine, anesthesiology, and critical care teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures, including open and minimally invasive techniques
  • Evaluate and manage patients with cardiovascular and thoracic diseases
  • Participate in pre-operative assessment and post-operative care
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including cardiology, oncology, and pulmonary specialists
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs
  • Opportunity to participate in clinical education and training programs

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Completion of an accredited Cardiothoracic Surgery fellowship
  • Eligible for unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
  • U.S. citizenship required for VA appointment
