Medical / General Cardiologist | $700K+ (1 yr partner track; uncapped earnings) | Private Practice | Tallahassee, FL
Tallahassee, FL
Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare
Job Highlights
Full-time; Tallahassee, FL
Southern Medical Group, P.A. is seeking a Medical Cardiologist to join one of the last fully independent cardiovascular groups in the Southeast — where your income is uncapped, your autonomy is real, and you help build something that matters.
The Perks
- Lucrative Earning Potential: Competitive base salary plus uncapped productivity bonus — expected total Year 1 compensation of $700K+ with no ceiling on what you build beyond that. At full partnership capacity, meaningful additional income is achievable through ancillary participation.
- True Independence: Physician-governed private practice. You decide clinical priorities. SMG physicians share in the economics of what they build, not a hospital system's version of it.
- 1-Year Partnership Track: Accelerated path to full partnership — one of the shortest tracks available in independent cardiology.
- ASC Equity: Up to 49% physician ownership in the ambulatory surgery center.
- Governance Income: Share in a $1.3M annual co-management pool distributed to physician committee participants.
- APP Support: Choose your own APP model. Physicians carry 2–4 APPs based on their own preferences. You decide how your team operates.
The Opportunity
- Join a Market Built for Cardiology: The patient base is large, growing, and loyal — giving you the foundation to build a thriving practice from day one.
- Advance With a System That Is Investing: Florida State University has committed $1.7 billion over 30 years to build FSU Health into a world-class academic health center — with $250 million deploying by 2034 to upgrade facilities, fund research, and support clinical faculty. The Heart and Vascular Institute is being built as a true institute model — governance, service line ecosystems, data analytics, research, and graduate medical education.
- Grow Into Academic Medicine — On Your Terms: FSU is a nationally recognized R1 research university. Clinical trial access, GME participation, teaching, and fellowship development are all available. None are required.
- Establish a Legacy: You are joining at the founding-cohort stage of an HVI that will define cardiovascular care across North Florida for decades. Get in early.
The Practice
- ~80% outpatient; remainder inpatient consults and hospital rounding
- 7-on / 7-off call rotation shared across the group; target 1-in-7 as headcount grows
- TMH Level 2 Trauma Center, Tallahassee, FL
- Clinics across North Florida and into South Georgia
- 21-county service area — the only independent cardiology group in the region
Living in Tallahassee, FL
- Affordable Florida: Low cost of living compared to Miami, Tampa, and Orlando — with all of the Florida lifestyle and none of the price tag. Your income goes substantially further here than in any other major Florida market.
- The Other Florida: Rolling hills, canopy roads draped in Spanish moss, a vibrant university community, and Southern hospitality that surprises every candidate who visits.
- Coastal Access: Thirty minutes from the Gulf of Mexico. World-class beaches without living on top of them.
- Capital City Energy: Home to FSU, FAMU, and the seat of state government — a mid-sized city with outsized culture, dining, arts, and community.
What You'll Bring
- Fellowship training in Cardiovascular Disease (required)
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Disease
- Eligible for Florida medical license
