Position Summary

Central Maine Medical Center, a Prime Healthcare affiliated hospital, is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Gastroenterologist to join its established and expanding Digestive Health program in Lewiston, Maine.

This position offers the opportunity to practice comprehensive gastroenterology in a collaborative hospital-based environment, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Collaboration & Quality

  • Collaborate with hospitalists, surgeons, oncology, radiology, and primary care teams
  • Participate in quality improvement, peer review, and patient safety initiatives
  • Maintain timely and accurate electronic medical record documentation
  • Adhere to medical staff bylaws, hospital policies, and regulatory standards

Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology care

  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including:
    • Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)
    • Colonoscopy
    • Biopsy and polypectomy
    • Hemostasis and dilation
    • PEG placement
    • Diagnose and manage gastrointestinal conditions including:
    • Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
    • Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
    • Liver disease and hepatitis
    • Pancreatic disorders
    • Gastrointestinal bleeding
    • Participate in a shared call schedule
  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school
  • Completion of accredited Internal Medicine residency
  • Completion of accredited Gastroenterology fellowship
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
  • Eligible for or active Maine medical license
  • DEA registration
  • BLS and ACLS certification

Pay Transparency

Central Maine Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $527,0000 to $$594,000. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
