Gastroenterologist – Locum Tenens | 24-Hr Days

A leading healthcare system in Midlands, South Carolina is seeking Gastroenterology Locum Providers to support three local locations. Providers must be available for weekly 24-hour shifts (7 AM – 7 AM) with on-site coverage from 7 AM–4 PM and off-site call in the evenings. This is a minimum 6-month commitment with potential to extend.

• Schedule: 7:00 AM–4:00 PM on-site with off-site call from 4:00 PM–6:59 AM
• Coverage Model: Weekly 24-hour days; return for emergencies only during call
• Start: As soon as credentialed
• Duration: Minimum 6-month block with option to extend
• Practice Setting: Hospital, Outpatient Clinic, and Free-standing GI Center

Required Procedures:

• Upper GI Endoscopy w/ biopsy
• Esophageal dilatation/manometry
• Manometry interpretation
• Small bowel biopsy
• Lower GI Endoscopy
• Sigmoidoscopy
• Colonoscopy (w/ biopsy and polyp excision)

Preferred/Advanced Procedures:

• Foreign body removal
• Variceal banding/injections
• ERCP
• EUS
• Liver biopsy
• Sengstaken-Blakemore tube management
• Advanced endoscopy capabilities preferred but not required

Call Volume & Details:

• Weekday Consults (Inpatient):
• Site A: Avg. 10 new consults (max 16), APP support provided
• Site B: Avg. 6 new consults (max 10), APP support provided
• Procedures: Avg. 8–12/day; max 15
• EGDs, Colonoscopies, Advanced Endo if applicable
• Advanced procedures performed at one primary site
