Position Summary:
The Program Director (PD) of the Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship serves as the academic and administrative leader for all aspects of the fellowship program within the Department of Anesthesiology at Cedars-Sinai. The PD leads all educational, clinical, and administrative aspects of the fellowship, including curriculum design, recruitment, faculty engagement, scholarly activity oversight, and program evaluation. In collaboration with departmental and institutional leadership, the PD ensures alignment with ACGME standards, departmental objectives, and the broader academic mission of Cedars-Sinai. The position plays a critical role in fostering an inclusive, supportive, and academically rigorous learning environment, advancing fellow wellness, mentorship, and professional development while positioning the program for regional and national recognition in graduate medical education and clinical excellence.
Principal Responsibilities:
Under the direction and as delegated by the Vice Chair of Education and Co-Chairs, responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Establish and execute annual program goals in alignment with departmental, institutional, and ACGME priorities.
- Lead the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology fellows per year.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous evaluation of the fellowship’s didactic, clinical, and asynchronous curriculum.
Qualifications
- Unrestricted California Physician license.
- Graduate of ACGME - accredited fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology.
- Current board certification by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
- Demonstrates current competency in clinical responsibilities as a cardiothoracic anesthesiologist.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology.
- Current certification in advanced perioperative transesophageal echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography
- Demonstrate ongoing academic achievements with appropriate dissemination, including publications, the development of educational programs, or the conduct of research.
- Demonstrate a role model of professionalism.
- Proven skills in fostering a culture of improvement, excellence, and efficiency.
- Proven excellence in teaching, and in the organization of both clinical and non-clinical activities.
- Evidence of exceptional academic, clinical, professional, and administrative accomplishment.
- Medical Staff membership in accordance with requirements specified in the CSMC and Medical Staff bylaws, rules and regulations.

Our compensation philosophy: We offer a competitive total compensation and benefits package to our physicians. The total pay range shown takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including knowledge/skills; relevant experience and training; education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors. This total pay range includes incentive payments that may be applicable to this role. Pay Range: $509,927- $601,496 Total Cash Compensation.
