Are you an experienced pathologist with strong leadership skills and a passion for serving our nation's veterans? The G. V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, is seeking a dynamic and accomplished Chief for our Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service.

The major duties of a Physician - Chief will include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for all clinical and administrative functions of the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine service.
  • Exercises administrative, programmatic, clinical, anatomical and academic oversight of pathology and laboratory programs to ensure delivery of quality services.
  • Serves as the role model (clinical administrator) by providing and monitoring pathology and laboratory care.
  • Integrates the pathology and laboratory services into primary functions of the organization.
  • Serves as the principle spokesperson and advocate for pathology and laboratory programs within the VA Medical Center.
  • Ensures communication and coordination between the Medical Center laboratory services and the clinical/patient care services.

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in a related specialty - Anatomic Pathology.
  • Possess experience working and managing a Pathology Laboratory.

Preferred Experience:

  • The candidate must have demonstrated significant levels of clinical expertise and publication record in pathology disciplines.
  • Experience and knowledge in formulating and reporting diagnostic information

Position Highlights:

  • Likely starting base salary range: $300,000.00 - $330,000.00
  • Malpractice: Liability protection
  • 50-55 days of annual

$300-330k
