Job Summary:
The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences is seeking an academically oriented Glaucoma Specialist to join its growing faculty in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This is a full-time, open-rank faculty opportunity within a clinician-educator track designed for physicians passionate about delivering exceptional patient care, advancing research, and educating future ophthalmologists.
The successful candidate will join a physician-led academic department consisting of 36 physicians, nine optometrists, and five research PhD faculty members dedicated to advancing innovation in eye and vision care.
Clinical responsibilities will primarily be based at the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Eye Institute, with potential outreach to satellite clinic locations. Faculty also participate in clinical coverage opportunities at Children’s Wisconsin, Froedtert Hospital, and the Zablocki Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive glaucoma and ophthalmic care in an academic clinical setting
- Diagnose and manage complex glaucoma conditions using medical and surgical treatment approaches
- Perform glaucoma-related surgical procedures and interventions
- Participate in resident and medical student education within the Department of Ophthalmology
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical and research teams across MCW and affiliated institutions
- Contribute to academic initiatives, quality improvement efforts, and departmental growth
- Participate in clinical coverage at affiliated hospitals and outreach clinics as needed
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation within the electronic medical record
- Support MCW’s mission of patient care, education, research, and community engagement
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited institution
- Completion of an accredited Ophthalmology residency program
- Fellowship training in Glaucoma required
- Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Ophthalmology
- Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Wisconsin
- Strong clinical and surgical skills in glaucoma care
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative abilities
- Interest in clinical or basic science research preferred
- Commitment to academic medicine, resident education, and patient-centered care
