Job Highlights
UVA Physicians Group is seeking a Medical Director to provide physician leadership for our 7 (and growing) outpatient primary care practices. This role offers the opportunity to combine clinical practice (approximately 60%) with administrative leadership (approximately 40%), driving high-quality patient care, provider engagement, and operational excellence within an academic health system.
- Lead and mentor a team of physicians and advanced practice providers.
- Maintain an active outpatient practice while providing clinical oversight.
- Partner with operational leadership to improve quality, access, patient experience, and practice performance.
- Support provider recruitment, onboarding, and professional development.
- Champion evidence-based care, population health initiatives, and continuous quality improvement.
- Collaborate with UVA Health leadership to advance strategic initiatives across multiple ambulatory practices.
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
- Board Certified/Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine.
- Eligible for unrestricted Virginia medical licensure and DEA registration.
- Minimum five years of post-residency clinical experience with demonstrated physician leadership preferred.
- Experience in ambulatory care and quality improvement is highly desirable.

Compensation Details
$309K–$328K
Compensation • Years 1–2: Guaranteed annual compensation of $309,375 structured accordingly: • $281,875 base salary + $27,500 guaranteed incentive • Providers may earn additional compensation through the wRVU productivity model if production exceeds the guaranteed threshold. • After Year 2: Compensation transitions to the applicable base salary plus a wRVU-based productivity incentive model. • Additional annual leadership bonus opportunity.
