  • Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (RPCCC), an NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and the nation’s first cancer center founded in 1898, invites applications for a senior leadership position as Chief of Genitourinary (GU) Medical Oncology. This role also includes active engagement within the Genitourinary Oncology Research Center (GU-ORC).

    This is a rare opportunity to shape and lead a nationally recognized, multidisciplinary GU oncology program within a dynamic academic and clinical environment committed to advancing the future of cancer care.

    Position Overview

    The Chief of GU Medical Oncology will provide strategic, clinical, and academic leadership for the Division, overseeing all aspects of GU medical oncology. This individual will play a defining role in advancing clinical excellence, expanding research impact, and strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration across the institution.

    The successful candidate will be considered for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level, with the potential for an Endowed Chair.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide visionary leadership for the GU Medical Oncology Division, setting clinical and scientific priorities aligned with institutional strategy
    • Oversee recruitment, mentorship, and supervision of faculty and service attendings
    • Develop and implement innovative clinical pathways to enhance patient outcomes across inpatient and outpatient settings
    • Partner closely with GU Surgery, Radiation Oncology, Pathology, and other multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, high-quality care
    • Drive growth in clinical research, with a focus on increasing patient accrual to clinical trials and expanding program reach and market presence
    • Foster a culture of academic excellence, mentorship, and continuous learning for faculty and trainees
    • Contribute actively to the mission of the GU Oncology Research Center (GU-ORC), advancing translational and clinical research initiatives

    Research & Academic Environment

    Roswell Park offers a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary research ecosystem with access to state-of-the-art shared resources and unique clinical specimens. Faculty engage across departments to advance patient-oriented translational research.

    The GU-ORC is comprised of more than 30 faculty members with expertise spanning cellular, genetic, epigenetic, metabolic, immunologic, ancestral, and behavioral drivers of GU cancers. The Chief will play a key role in strengthening these collaborations and accelerating discovery.

    Qualifications

    • MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent with board certification in Medical Oncology (or eligibility)
    • Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of New York
    • Distinguished record of clinical excellence and academic achievement
    • Demonstrated success in clinical and/or translational research, with a strong publication and funding history
    • Proven leadership experience, including program development, faculty mentorship, and team building
    • Commitment to advancing diversity, collaboration, and innovation in academic medicine
