  • Ready for a Canadian adventure? Alberta Health Services is launching a brand-new Orthopedic Surgical Hospitalist service at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. We are specifically inviting U.S. board-certified Internal Medicine physicians to join this exciting team in Edmonton—a vibrant metro of 1.3 million.

    Service Model & Impact

    • Focused Patient Care: Manage a census of approximately 20–25 patients.
    • Lead the medical optimization and recovery of orthopedic patients beyond the initial 48–72 hours post-surgery.
    • Focus on medical stabilization, interdisciplinary coordination, and safe, efficient discharge planning.
    • 1 week service blocks with first call managed by on-site associate physicians

    Qualifications

    • Training: Completed U.S.-based residency training in Internal Medicine.
    • Certification: Board certified in Internal Medicine.
    • Expertise: Strong interest in the care of surgical inpatients and comfort working with surgical teams.
    • Citizenship: Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or eligibility for a Temporary Foreign Worker Visa (support provided).

    Compensation Details

    $275K–$436K

    Compensation will be provided on a Fee‑For‑Service (FFS) basis. Total FFS compensation varies by individual practitioner, and the figures shown reflect the average compensation range for this specialty as reported by Alberta Health. The estimated compensation range is presented in USD, based on current conversion rates. Payment will be made in CAD.
