Major Duties and Responsibilities: The responsibilities of a General Surgeon include critical/daily tasks and responsibilities.
- Accurately interprets and evaluates clinical data for the purpose of determining diagnosis and clinical status. Corrects diagnosis and clinical status. Corrects diagnosis when necessary.
- Serves as a mentor for fellows, residents, trainees, students, other employees, and interacts with academic affiliates as needed.
- Selects, develops, and conducts literature research on problems that are relevant to the health care of veterans and have a reasonable expectation of successful conclusion.
- Utilize assessment skills to promptly exam new patients thoroughly using appropriate clinical, laboratory, and other pertinent data. Provides follow-up when indicated
- Demonstrates accuracy of judgment in and assisting with professional/administrative actions. Demonstrates ability to achieve a balance among administrative tasks while caring for the patients.
- Demonstrates adherence to personal and professional obligations and responsibilities. Acts in carrying out assignments and keeping appointments.

Collaborates and coordinates with staff members to stimulate and participate in the team approach to problems. Gains the confidence and respect of others. Complies with Medical Staff Bylaws. **Preferred Experience:
- Preferred Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery
- Critical Care Experience
- Endoscopy skills are required.

- **Generous Paid Time Off: 50–55 days per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and possible 5-day paid absence for CME).**
