  • The Department of Surgery at Banner University Medical Center -Tucson (BUMCT) is actively seeking a fellowship-trained minimally invasive surgeon specializing in bariatric surgery for its Tucson and South campus locations. Our growing practice incorporates all aspects of Bariatric surgery including primary and revisional bariatric surgery procedures, and endoscopy. This is an exceptional opportunity to join an established MBSAQIP Accredited Center Quality Program that is looking to expand its offerings to the growing patient population of Southern Arizona. The qualified candidate will receive an academic appointment that is consistent with their credentials.

    The program is supported by a well-established team and has access to the state-of-the-art facilities which include robotic surgery technology. Applicants should have a strong commitment to patient care and education of clinical fellow, residents, and medical students. The Division of General Surgery maintains a minimally invasive Advanced GI Surgery fellowship and an interest in clinical research is preferable.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Full Time
    • Perform bariatric surgeries with a mixture of restrictive and anastomotic procedures and use advance laparoscopic techniques and endoscopy
    • Commitment to Academic Medicine, including teaching, clinical productivity and research
    • Educate/Work with Medical Students, General Surgery Residents, and minimal invasive fellows
    • Build relationships with community doctors and referral sources
    • Contribute to community involvement and outreach efforts

    Qualifications

    • BC or BE in General Surgery
    • Fellowship training in Bariatric surgery and/or minimally invasive surgery
    • Strong Academic background with focus on clinical productivity, education and research
    • Bariatric Surgery experience preferred but not required
