Job Highlights
UMC Health System is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Radiation Oncologist to join our team at the UMC TLC² Foundation Cancer Center.
This is an opportunity to join an established, ACR-accredited program with a predictable weekday schedule, dedicated time for treatment planning, advanced radiation capabilities, and strong clinical support. The department treats both adult and pediatric patients, although the practice is primarily adult-focused.
Practice Schedule
The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with physicians generally finishing earlier on Fridays.
Each day is divided between:
• A half day in clinic seeing new consultations and follow-up patients
• A half day reserved for simulations and treatment planning
• Mondays dedicated to on-treatment visits
Patient Volume
• Approximately 20 to 30 patients treated daily across two linear accelerators
• Up to five new consultations or 10 follow-up visits per clinic day
• Up to four or five simulations per day
Treatment Capabilities
Physicians provide a broad range of radiation oncology treatments and procedures, including:
• Stereotactic body radiation therapy
• Stereotactic brain treatments
• Deep inspiration breath-hold treatments for breast cancer patients
• Brachytherapy for gynecologic cancers
• Hydrogel spacer and fiducial placement for prostate cancer patients
• Surface-guided radiation therapy and monitoring when clinically appropriate
Clinical Support
The Radiation Oncology department includes:
• Six radiation therapists
• Two nurses
• Two patient care assistants
• One dosimetrist
• Two remote physicists
Additional support is readily available through dietary services, speech therapy, behavioral health, patient navigation, palliative care, symptom management, and other cancer-center resources.
Call Expectations
The current two-physician team alternates weekend call and holiday coverage. When a physician is on call, two radiation therapists and one physicist are also reserved to provide clinical support.
