Job Summary:
Centra Medical Group is seeking a Board Eligible or Board Certified Hematology/Oncology Physician to join our highly regarded team at the recently renovated 75,000+ square foot Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center in Lynchburg, Virginia. This state-of-the-art facility brings comprehensive cancer services under one roof and supports a collaborative, patient-centered model of care. Qualifications:
• MD or DO from an accredited institution
• Completion of residency and fellowship training in Hematology/Oncology
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hematology/Oncology (ABMS)
• Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive outpatient Hematology/Oncology care
• Conduct inpatient consults with 24/7 availability (MD-only call coverage)
• Participate in a 1:7 call rotation
• Collaborate with Radiation Oncology, pathology, radiology, surgery, and subspecialists
• Participate in multidisciplinary Tumor Boards and conferences
• Supervise and provide oversight for Advanced Practice Providers (goal: 1 NP to 1 MD)
• Enroll and manage patients in NSABP and NCI clinical trials
• Utilize the Varian documentation system, Dragon dictation, and electronic order entry
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EMR
• Engage in quality initiatives supported by QOPI, CoC, and NAPBC accredited programs
Work Environment & Schedule:
- 4-day work week with staggered hours
- Primarily outpatient practice
- Single hospital coverage within close proximity
- Dedicated Tumor Boards:
- Weekly Breast Tumor Conference (1 hour)
- Weekly Thoracic Tumor Conference (30 minutes)
- Monthly GU Tumor Conference (1 hour)
- Monthly GYN Tumor Conference
- On-site PET/CT
- On-site hematology lab services (with additional send-out tumor markers and specialty labs)
- Comprehensive genetic counseling services
- Intensive onboarding program with structured EMR and workflow training

Compensation Details
$600-700k
Physician Compensation & Benefits: $600K Base + production, incentives Comp based on base salary, production, and quality incentives. $60K Sign-on Bonus! $15K Relocation Up to $120K Student loan reimbursement (max allowed half of total loan amount and not to exceed $120K payable over 6 years) Paid malpractice insurance with tail Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, and 403(b) 457(b) with 5% employer contribution match Sponsorship available PSLF eligible
