  • The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are jointly recruiting full-time faculty to serve in leadership positions as Director of Clinical Research and Program Head for the Sarcoma Program. The positions will have primary appointment in the Clinical Research Division at Fred Hutch and secondary appointment in the UW Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology. The positions will be at the assistant, associate, or full professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT), commensurate with experience and qualifications.

    This position is designed for a physician who will provide strategic direction and business development with a vision to develop and grow the Fred Hutch Sarcoma Clinical Research Program. This leader will contribute to our mission of delivering outstanding clinical care and research in the biology and treatment of sarcomas and related conditions. The successful candidate is expected to lead Fred Hutch’s sarcoma clinical research operations and will enter a vibrant and dynamic research environment with an opportunity to lead and collaborate with basic, translational, public health, and clinical sarcoma researchers.

    The candidate will lead the clinical research efforts of a team of sarcoma clinicians.

    This position will oversee the sarcoma clinical research program including strategic planning, implementation and management of clinical research activities. Priorities include developing research collaborations with pharmaceutical companies and national trials, building partnerships among researchers and staff, integrating trials across different stakeholders, leading and facilitating translational research collaborations in sarcoma across the Cancer Consortium, educating and training researchers in sarcoma, and creating a vision for the future of sarcoma and its treatment in collaboration with other oncology leaders.

    The successful candidate will be appointed on the Clinician Scholar track and will devote approximately 40% of time to sarcoma clinical care. The remaining time will be protected for research and administrative tasks associated with the Fred Hutch sarcoma programs, in addition to teaching and mentorship.

    The incumbent will provide strategic leadership with a strong vision to grow the Fred Hutch Sarcoma Program. The Program Head will contribute to our mission of delivering outstanding clinical care and developing excellence in research in the area of Sarcoma. The successful candidate would lead Fred Hutch’s Sarcoma Research and Clinical Program and enter a vibrant and dynamic research environment with an opportunity to lead sarcoma researchers across diverse disciplines. The incumbent will serve as a leader charged with organizing, directing and expanding the clinical and research efforts for a team of sarcoma clinicians and researchers. Responsibilities include faculty recruitment, oversight and mentorship of faculty and trainees on the sarcoma oncology tea, and oversight of clinical care on the sarcoma oncology service.

    The selected candidate will spend 20-50% of their time on clinical care based on their interests and institutional need. The remaining time will be protected for research, administrative oversight of the Fred Hutch sarcoma clinical and research programs, teaching and mentorship.

    Compensation Details

    $355-568k

    Pay for Faculty positions is based on a variety of factors, including degree, specialty, clinical practice and experience. This position is eligible for relocation assistance or a sign-on bonus. Other compensation associated with this position may include an Administrative Supplement (ADS) in addition to base pay. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees a comprehensive benefits package designed to enhance health, well-being, and financial security.
