  • On behalf of Dr. Steven Seidner, Department Chair of Pediatrics at UT Health in San Antonio, CareerPhysician, LLC, a national leader in academic pediatric executive search and child health, has initiated a national search to identify a transformational leadership candidate to appoint as the next Chief of Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine. The new leader will be charged with the creation and implementation of a strategic plan that will guide the division into the future accounting for advancements in programmatic development, research, and faculty growth.     Opportunity Highlights:

    • The division is currently home to an outstanding Cystic Fibrosis Clinic, which is led by Dr. Donna Beth Willey Courand, and offers substantial opportunities to expand programs in asthma, aerodigestive, and technology dependent care.

    • UT Health is the only comprehensive pediatric academic teaching center in San Antonio and has a thriving relationship with University Hospital, a premier Level I trauma center, which houses a brand-new 105 bed women’s and children’s hospital that includes 20 LD rooms and a Level IV state-of-the-art NICU offering families private, single-family rooms, consolidating on pediatric inpatient services.

    • UT Health recently entered in an exclusive employment contract with the premier pediatric anesthesia group in San Antonio, which will now provide exclusive anesthesia support to all pediatric sub-specialty services.

    • Opportunity to work with a diverse and underserved patient population that is 66 percent Hispanic.

    • The selected leader can expect unwavering fiscal and resource support to create a vision and implement a strategy focused on advancing care for children with opportunities to expand research to improve the quality of care for children throughout the region. In addition, the named Chief will have the opportunity to architect a plan to enhance the current delivery and care of pediatric sleep medicine patients.

    • Academic promotion occurs through the UT Health College of Medicine and an Associate Professor rank or above is preferred. In addition, the ideal leader will possess experience in successful programmatic development and mentoring junior faculty, as well as, have a track record in quality, outcomes, and access initiatives.

    • The department and hospital are committed to providing the selected leader an Endowed Chair with a highly competitive compensation and benefits package which will factor in faculty rank, prior experience, and research contribution.
