Consultation–Liaison & Inpatient Psychiatrist

MedStar Washington Hospital Center – Washington, DC

MedStar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC) is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to join our team in a combined Inpatient and Consultation–Liaison (C/L) Psychiatry role at one of the region’s leading academic medical centers. This position offers a dynamic blend of hospital-based psychiatric care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and academic involvement within a major tertiary care hospital.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric consultation services for patients admitted to the medical and surgical units as part of a well-established Consultation–Liaison Psychiatry team
  • Deliver comprehensive psychiatric care to inpatients on a multidisciplinary team in our state-of-the-art inpatient psychiatric unit (opening April 2026)
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other specialists to support integrated, whole-person care

Academic & Teaching Opportunities

  • Work with and teach medical students from Georgetown University School of Medicine
  • Supervise and collaborate with MedStar Georgetown psychiatry residents
  • Engage with a Consultation–Liaison Psychiatry fellow as part of an academically focused service

This role is ideal for a psychiatrist who enjoys a strong academic environment and values teaching and mentorship.

Qualifications

  • Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
  • Eligible for medical licensure in Washington, DC
  • Fellowship training in Consultation–Liaison Psychiatry preferred
  • Demonstrated interest in teaching and academic psychiatry strongly desired

USD $280,000.00 - USD $305,000.00 /Yr.

Compensation Details

$280-305k

The hiring range is the range MedStar Health, in good faith, believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future and actual compensation may vary from posting based on work experience, education and/or skill level, etc. Even within the range, the actual compensation will vary depending on the above factors as well as market/business considerations. No amount is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable under the terms and conditions of the applicable policies and plans.
