The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center, Jackson, MS is seeking a full-time Physician - Inpatient Staff Psychiatrist, board certified or board eligible, to join our expanding clinical practice. We are fully committed to providing top quality medical care by serving and honoring America's Veterans.
Candidate must possess MD/DO from an accredited institution, have completed residency training to board certification, and possess an active, current, unrestricted license in any U.S. State or territory.
Additional requirements:
- Psychiatrist will focus on the assessment/evaluation and medication management of veterans who suffer from a variety of mental health conditions, including, but not limited to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, substance abuse, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis, and other related conditions.
- Writes prescriptions for medications, including controlled medications which require a DEA number.
- Initiates consultation by and referral to other services as indicated.
- Educates staff hospital wide about psychiatric needs of patients; how to handle; what to expect; etc.
- Works with families of patients receiving psychiatric care.
- Provides and documents education and counseling of patients and patients' families in preventive care, medical treatments, and the use of prescribed medications.

Jackson, MS, consist of eight colleges and universities,three community colleges, and 11 school districts. Compensation Details
$290-310k
