The New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) is currently recruiting Psychiatrists to join our team who are dedicated to the mission of promoting the mental health of all New Yorkers.
New York has invested $1 billion to expand services including suicide prevention, youth services, and expansion of inpatient bed, outpatient programs, community services, and specialized housing.
OMH Psychiatrists provide patient-centered and recovery-focused care to individuals in a variety of settings throughout New York State:
• Hospital Inpatient Units
• Outpatient Clinics
• Community Services; Mobile Integration Teams (MIT) and Assertive Community Teams (ACT)
• Secure Forensic Facilities
• Day Treatment Programs
Patients stay as long as needed, treatment is comprehensive, recovery-oriented, and all services are built on principles of effective, measurable and accountable care.
Minimum Qualifications:
Psychiatrist 1: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.
Psychiatrist 2: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN.
Psychiatrist 2 Children & Adolescent: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry approved by the ABPN, and certification in child and adolescent psychiatry approved by the ABPN.
Psychiatrist 2 Forensic: License and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry by the ABPN, and certification in forensic psychiatry by the ABPN.

In order to be hired and to maintain your employment, candidates cannot be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of the Federal and/or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists. If appointed and subsequently listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of these lists, you may be terminated from your employment.
If appointed, you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid. If you are appointed and you lose the ability to bill through Medicare and Medicaid, you may be terminated from your employment.

OMH provides comprehensive and recovery-oriented mental health treatment to individuals with serious mental illness across New York State through inpatient, residential, and a wide variety of outpatient and community services.
OMH provides State-operated services to civil and forensic populations through two divisions: the Division of State-Operated Services and the Division of Forensic Services.
OMH’s Division of State-Operated Services is responsible for operation of 19 civil state psychiatric centers that provide mental health treatment to adults and children and adolescents which includes:

OMH’s Division of Forensic Services provides mental health services for justice-involved individuals which includes:
• Three accredited secure forensic psychiatric centers and one regional forensic unit
• Prison-based mental health satellite units
• Residential programs located within prison facilities
• Secure treatment and rehabilitation facilities for the care and treatment of individuals confined under the sex
offender civil management initiative
• Community-based training and technical assistance services for local governmental units, including Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training and diversion services
